Make It Homemade

Harvest Health Foods

This is the season we enjoy making and giving gifts that we created with love in our own homes. Many of these gifts are annual traditions, like making cookies using grandmas special recipe. It doesn't have to be complicated, it could be as simple as filling a pretty jar with your favorite Harvest Health Foods nuts or trail mix. Make it complete with a pretty bow and tag.

Do you have a tea lover in the family? Create a special tea blend with our bulk herbs and spices.

Christmas Tea Blend:

3 1/2 oz  of black tea
Dried:  1 Tbs Orange Peel, 1 Tbs Lemon Peel  or  if using fresh - 1/2 orange & 1/2 lemon
6 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 vanilla pod

1. Use dried Lemon or Orange Peel. Or you can make your own by peeling the superficial skin (without the white pith) of the orange and lemon with a vegetable peeler. Dry the zests in you preheated oven at 210°F (100°C) for 30 minutes. Let cool, then cut into small pieces.
2. Chop cloves and cinnamon coarsely with a mortar and pestle.
3. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise, then in 1 inch sections.
4. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and pour into a bag. Then slide it into a cute packaging.

Basic Blend Begins with:

8 oz of Distilled water

2 od of Witch hazel

40-50 Drops - total of a Blend of Essential Oils of your choice.

Classic Christmas Essential Oils:  Cinnamon, Ginger, Pine, Peppermint, Orange, Clove,  and don't forget Frankincense too

Do you have an artifical tree?  Make it smell like a fresh tree. Gather a pine cone or several from your yard and you can saok to clean off any sap.  When it is damp you can attach a string or pretty ribbon to hang your pine cone by tucking it under the "leaves" of the cone.  Hang to dry,  Drop Pine or Fir Essential oils on to the dry "leaves" of the cone and hang in your tree.

Use just enough drops of essential oil to soak into the cone, but not drip off.  Hang in your tree.
